Fort Lauderdale Offshore Fishing
Fort Lauderdale Offshore Fishing is incredible all year round! Specializing in light tackle, we focus on versatility and adapting to whatever the ocean offers each day. With constantly changing weather and currents, we mix it up with a variety of fishing techniques, including kite fishing, bottom fishing, chumming, freelining, and trolling, often using live bait to maximize the action.
Choose from 4-hour, 6-hour, or full-day trips to match your group’s ideal experience! Below, you can discover all the different fishing styles we embrace throughout the year for an unforgettable adventure.
Target Species
In the early winter months of November and December, we focus heavily on kite fishing and trolling for sailfish, wahoo, blackfin tunas, and king mackerel. It’s also the prime time for bottom fishing, targeting big amberjacks, snapper, and grouper species before grouper season closes on January 1.
As we move into midwinter, January and February bring prime sailfish season with plenty of live baiting and kite fishing. King mackerel fishing is fantastic, and the wahoo bite peaks during full moons. While bottom fishing slows down this time of year, it’s the perfect season for battling big sharks on wrecks.
From March to May, the spring months deliver the best fishing of the year! We mix it up with kite fishing, live baiting, trolling, and bottom fishing. This is peak sailfish season, the wahoo bite remains great during full moons, blackfin tunas are abundant, and mahi mahi start showing up. With grouper season opening on May 1, we shift to more bottom fishing.
Summer brings calm seas and is the ideal time to stock up the freezer! It’s the peak season for mahi mahi, with schools of them offshore, and we do plenty of live bait chumming around reefs for snappers, grouper, and blackfin tunas. Yellowtail snapper fishing is especially popular during these months.
Fall is another period of calm seas and cooler temperatures, perfect for fishing. This season is all about high-speed trolling for wahoo and sight fishing in shallow waters for sailfish, mahi mahi, African pompano, and more during the fall bait runs down the coast.
Where We Fish
We’re lucky to have the continental shelf so close to shore, which means we enjoy very short runs to the fishing grounds. Most of our trips stay within just 1-2 miles from the shore, fishing in waters ranging from 100 to 400 feet deep for an action-packed experience!
